Executives in Digital Health

HIC2027 has a dedicated stream designed to bring together and inspire Australia’s health and care leaders and executives.

The Executives in Digital Health (EiDH) stream at HIC invites board directors, executives and senior leaders in health and digital health to share insights, lessons, and provocations shaping the future of healthcare. This forum focuses on leadership, strategy, governance, and transformation, bringing together executives from across health, government, and industry to explore how digital can enable safer, smarter, and more equitable care.

Call for Abstracts

We welcome provocative and forward-thinking submissions that challenge assumptions, inspire change, and highlight the human side of digital transformation.

We aim to select a diverse set of submissions that address strategic decisions, governance responsibilities and leadership challenges facing health and digital health executives. The strongest proposals bring a credible case study, including difficult decisions, setbacks and lessons learned, and a clear plan to engage participants through facilitated discussion, debate or a practical exercise, not a presentation followed by questions.

Submissions may take the form of presentations, panels, workshops, or other interactive sessions. Executive sessions run for 90 minutes to ensure adequate time for interactive delegate engagement. Abstracts (max 300 words) should outline the title, the strategic issue or decision at stake, the proposed format and how you will engage participants, three key take-home messages, and presenter details.

EiDH at HIC is for board directors, executives and their direct reports across health, government and industry (CIOs, CMIOs, CCIOs, CDOs, Chief Strategy / Innovation Officers, digital transformation leaders, health executives, senior academics, practice managers and policy influencers). The sessions are open to all delegates, but the content is curated for senior leaders. Your proposal should be strategic, systemic and rich with insight, not purely technical, promotional or vendor focused, and not written in an academic style. A compelling issue and a credible plan for engaging this audience matter more than polished language.

Abstract Guidelines
  • Maximum of three pages in length, including references
  • Use the Research Project Abstract Template for submissions – Overview / Aim / Methods / Results / Conclusion
  • A literature review is not required
  • Students: typically have the mentor/teacher/guide as the senior author, as well as any other collaborators, mentors or authors
  • Presentations will be 20-minutes in length for concurrent sessions and will be delivered in person at the event
  • Accepted presenters must register and pay to attend the conference. Failure to register will result in the abstract being removed from the program
  • Abstracts are blind reviewed by a panel of industry leades for relevance, importance and topical interest to the sector

What makes a strong EiDH proposal?

  • Addresses a strategic decision, governance responsibility or leadership challenge relevant to board directors and executives.
  • Draws on a credible case study, including difficult decisions, setbacks and lessons learned that can be applied elsewhere.
  • Sets out a clear plan to engage participants through facilitated discussion, debate or a practical exercise, not a presentation with questions at the end.
  • Challenges assumptions about an emerging issue or a competing priority facing the sector.
  • Leaves participants with clear takeaways they can apply in their own organisation.
